Heidi: The Memories of my Childhood

Piya's Birthday was around the corner. I had to grab a beautiful attire for my princess. With online shopping for kids made easier with a click of a button, I started surfing for the smart wear until my eyes fell on dresses like the Yellow Lily Bow Frock, Happy Red Tunic, Cowl Neck Candy Dress, The Old School Tunic and much more on Foreverkidz. These delightful attires took me back to my childhood days. Do you guys remember Heidi, the cute cartoon back in 2000's?  It would be telecasted on Cartoon Network. That was one adorable series that I would never miss. The munchkin in the series would wear a similar attires to the below ones.Though there are differences in colors and designs but, the retro style is what took me back.     

If you guys have not seen the series then, probably you should watch now with your kids. The children are sure to get carried by the innocence delivered by the series.   The charming story starts with an introduction about the orphaned child Heidi, who is sent away from her aunt to live with her grandfather in the Swiss Alps. Heidi’s grandfather is shown as a cold hearted man at the beginning. However, his heart melts on seeing the innocence of the little girl. Soon, the love for each other grows up so strong that makes them inseparable. Peter, the goat-herder is shown as Heidi's best friend. Every morning, they go up in the mountains with goats and play all the day.     

Life seems to be perfect and peaceful until the aunt comes back with an obligation that Heidi is needed as a playmate for a young girl, Clara who can't walk. Therefore, the munchkin is separated from the old man and is taken all the way to Frankfurt where Clara lives. Heidi makes a good playmate and friend to Clara but, at the same time, she gets homesick as her heart longs for the mountains, greenery, Grandpa, Peter, and Yuki.   

Soon, Clara’s father realizes the little girl's sickness. He calls his doctor friend, who suggests him to send the cutie back to the mountains. Finally, the munchkin is sent back to the mountains where she belongs. She comes back with joy and promises to never leave the place again.    

When Clara and Heidi were together, she would tell her the stories about the mountains and the greenery. Clara was so much fascinated that she decided to visit the place with her family. Heidi, Clara, and Peter have the best parts of their lives in the mountains.     

I cried a lot when the cartoon came to end but then, Powerpuff Girls and Dexter's laboratory kept me engaged.  Hope, the series comes back so that, my daughter can enjoy them too. 

How Barbie helped us to be girly!

Barbie, one of the most favorite dolls of all the time has molded our fantasy world beautifully. My birthday gifts would include at least one Barbie that would bring a million dollar smile to my face. I've grown up as a 28-year-old woman now but still, the craze in me never fades away. I learned a lot of fashion tips from the dolls that made me the high school beauty queen back in my teens. This blog is all about the different dolls that gave me a fashion inspiration. Read on to know more.  

1. The Princess Bride  

This was the first Barbie gifted to me. She wears a beautiful wedding gown that looks stunning on her. The box comes with accessories like a small mirror and a crown. My mother bought a similar tutu dress for me on my birthday. It was the time when tutu dresses for girls were becoming popular.   

2. The Fashion Designer  

The box equips the beautiful toy, with a handy wardrobe which incorporates pink dresses. You can change the dresses according to your wish. The fur scarf is my favorite of all. A similar one was worn by Kareena Kapoor Khan in Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham in the second part.   

3. Kitty Fun  

This one was a fun one to play with. The carton is enclosed with the baby girl, her kitty friend Marshmallow, litter box, and accessories as well. I would play for hours brushing the kitty’s fur and giving it a nice soapy bubble bath.    

4. Stylin Pup  

The same was introduced for dog lovers as well. Instead of a cat, the animal was replaced with a cute puppy. Accessories like hair dryer, brush, wash table will be included in the box. The color would change with consecutive washes which was fun to watch. 

5. Salon Surprise

This is the ideal game for any girl because all of us love styling our hair. My sister and I would sit for hours styling each other and Barbie of course. We would use the clips for ourselves as well. Those were good old golden that makes me feel nostalgic now. Though she is married now, still we do the same when she comes back home.
